Accomplishments
Well, I opened a brewery with my two sisters and it’s been over two years and we haven’t killed each other yet! So I’d say that’s an accomplishment. 🙂
What else do you hope to accomplish by the age of 40?
We try to be very focused on sustainability at Three Blondes Brewing, but I’d like to do even more – such as working toward becoming a Certified B Corp.
Education
- South Haven High School ’01
- Kalamazoo College ’05 – Degree in Economics
Residence
Zeeland, MI
Where were you born?
Kalamazoo, MI
What was your first job?
My first job was mowing lawns in my neighborhood growing up, followed by working for my parents’ small business in high school. It was there I started to develop a love for accounting, which led me down the path of becoming a CPA.
Best advice you ever got?
Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Who inspires you most?
My parents – they’ve owned their own business and worked together for almost 40 years. And at age 69, they are still working hard and loving it!
That one thing about you we’d be most surprised to learn.
I don’t have kids but I love being an Aunt!
What do you love to do in your downtime?
I don’t get too much downtime, so when I do, I enjoy relaxing with my husband, friends, and/or family over a couple of beers.
What book are you reading now?
I wish I had an impressive response for this, but honestly the most recent publication I read was an US Weekly magazine this morning. 🙂
Volunteer activity you love the most.
Anything that involves giving back to folks who need it most in South Haven.
What motivates you to give back to your community?
I grew up in South Haven so it’s an easy decision to give back to the community that helped shape who I am. I love seeing the community work together to help others in need!
What Superpower would you most love to have?
Super-human strength. It would make handling 160 lb kegs much easier!!!
What has been the most eye-opening thing about the coronavirus pandemic for you, personally?
It brings out the best and worst in people. Luckily at Three Blondes Brewing, we have been blessed with a great staff and the majority of our customers have been quite generous and supportive.
What does the honor of being named to the 40 Under 40 most mean to you?
It feels awesome to get this honor and motivates me to stay involved with the community and continue to make a difference!
