The Lincoln Township Library is practically a new facility now that its $1.5 million renovation project is finished.
Library Director Joelle Wake tells us the finishing touches are being put on the building as staff prepare for the grand reopening and ribbon cutting this Saturday. Among the improvements is the expansion of the library meeting room.
“So we were able to extend it to make it now fit 120 people before it was around 80,” Wake said. “We also did remodel the entire building with getting new paints and carpet. All new furniture, our stacks were lowered in our adult sections. Before they were 96 inches. So now, they’re lower to 78, so it makes them more accessible for people.”
Wake says they added a fireplace and a coffee nook, and yes, they will be providing coffee for a suggested small donation. The renovations also included new shelves, new paint, a teen area, and a digital lab.
Wake says she looks forward to showing the improved library off to patrons this Saturday during the grand reopening, which starts at 10 a.m.
“It looks beautiful. I think everybody comes in and it’s really going to be a shocker, I think, for the community of how much we did in the three month period. It’s pretty amazing. I do think it’s a completely different space and it feels a lot more open.”
The $1.6 renovation million project only took about three months to complete, and she says the library had minimal service disruptions thanks to the temporary location it opened on Hollywood Road.
