BH Sunrise Rotary Marks 30 Years of Thanksgiving Baskets for Deserving Families

Thirty years ago the Benton Harbor Sunrise Rotary Club began packing Thanksgiving dinners and other essential items into bushel baskets donated by Monte Package  Company of Riverside.  This Wednesday, the club will do it again!

Here’s the story of good works in our community, as told to us by the Sunrise Rotary:

On Wednesday, November 27, in support of the Club’s mission to improve and enrich the lives of the children in the Benton Harbor community, Benton Harbor Sunrise Rotarian hearts and hands will come together during their weekly meeting to pack complete thanksgiving dinners for seventeen families in the area. All food is provided as a gift by Rotarians with rolls donated by Martins Super Market and baskets donated by the Monte Package Company.

The bounty-filled baskets will include a plump turkey with all the fixings, along with a holiday table runner sewn by an anonymous donor to add a special touch to the families’ holiday décor.

Representative from Flowers Early Learning (formerly Tri-County Head Start) will distribute the baskets to those identified by the organization on Wednesday, allowing families plenty of time to prepare their Thanksgiving feasts.

The BH Sunrise Rotary Club holds hybrid meetings (in-person or via Zoom) every Wednesday morning at 7:00 A.M.  They welcome all Rotarians and encourage guests to join in warm fellowship at The Secret Garden at the Harbor located at 209 W Main St., Benton Harbor.

If you are interested in more information regarding the Rotary, attending a meeting as a guest, or becoming involved as a donor or member, please visit their website at  www.bhsunriserotary.org.
