It takes community partners, blended services, and more engagement opportunities to truly make an impact in the region and help individuals reach their full potential. That’s why Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, Van Buren and New Heights CCDA are excited to highlight several ways they are partnering to bring more services to more people.
Beginning on November 13, Michigan Works! team members will host open office hours at the New Heights Laundry Hub every Wednesday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The Hub is located at 2121 Red Arrow Highway in Benton Harbor. The team will be onsite to connect with individuals about programs and resources to support their goals, such as education, training, and employment.
“By working with New Heights CCDA, we can do more for the individuals in our community, while eliminating the transportation barrier that many of our local job seekers experience. This is just one of many different projects and services that our partnership with New Heights will bring to the region,” said Paul Kirk, Vice President of Workforce at Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, Van Buren.
In addition to the new office hours at the Hub, New Heights CCDA conducts work experiences with various youth from Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, Van Buren.
“Not only have they been a great employer for work experiences, their other programs and services have made a lasting impact on the individuals we serve in many ways. New Heights Auto Ministry has been instrumental in getting individuals to and from work through their vehicle repair services and we have also been working together to identify housing options for those in our Offender Services program. We’re excited to watch our collaboration continue to grow through the services that both of our organizations provide,” added Kirk.
“Our collaboration with Michigan Works! allows us to build on each other’s strengths to make a greater difference in our community. By combining our resources and expertise, we’re able to address multiple barriers that individuals face in a more comprehensive way. Together, we’re creating pathways for success that would be difficult to achieve independently,” said Chris Britton, Executive Director at New Heights CCDA.
“New Heights has been a long time, critical partner to Kinexus Group. We appreciate the important work they are doing in the community, and we’re excited to be part of it,” said President and CEO of Kinexus Group, Todd Gustafson.
