Three South Haven residents whose volunteer efforts for more than a decade have made for a better community were honored recently at a City Council meeting.
Robert Copping, president of the civic group called SHOUT, honored LaRae and Mark Odland and Sue Cunningham.
“We are pleased to honor Sue, LaRae and Mark for their extraordinaire service to community,”said Copping.
The Odlands over the past decade coordinated the spring planting and maintenance of the flowers on the Dyckman drawbridge and the decorating of the bridge for the holidays.
Sue for many years managed the popular summertime SHOUT Cottage Walk which is the primary fundraiser for the organization, allowing it to support several projects over the years, including the recent construction of the wintertime gathering place in Dyckman Park.
“When we volunteer we are voting through our actions the kind of community we want to live in,” said Copping. “LaRae, Mark and Sue are perfect examples of that giving spirit. They have excelled in working toward making our great community even better and we are grateful for that.”
“I am grateful for the generosity of LaRae, Mark and Sue. These are three South Havenites who have worked tirelessly for our visitors and year-round residents. They are always giving their time and talents to make South Haven a wonderful city. We are lucky they live here!” said Mayor Annie Brown.
Mayor Brown presented a Resolution of Appreciation on behalf of SHOUT.
