How do you think that Bold Women of Business demonstrate being bold?
I think Bold Women of Business demonstrate being bold by taking a chance on self. Recognizing the worth and value within. Also by walking in confidence even in the uncertain moments.
Bold women are often defined by a number of descriptors. Please choose from the following descriptors to produce the top three that you would say most exemplify your personality?
Confident
Strong
Distinctive
Please provide an example of when you feel you were at your very best in taking action on the job or in your role.
As a Guidance Counselor one of my roles is to make sure students are taking the correct classes to meet the graduation requirements. Due to a glitch in the system, majority of the students schedules were mixed up. The pressure was on the counselors to fix it. We came together for the students to make sure their schedules were in order. The pressure of knowing our students future were on the line caused us to produce results.
What’s the funniest thing that ever happened on your road to success?
Working with youth, there have always been funny and memorable moments. Honestly, I can say the funniest moments is thinking I can skip the process or not put in the work for the results I desired. I can laugh now, but at the moment in the realization, it was not the funniest moment.
Who most inspires your personal drive for success every day?
Who inspires my personal drive everyday are my two children Jasmine and Justin, as well as the students I work with on a daily basis. I grew up in a community where words like success, goals, positivity, or positive self talk were not a part of our daily vocabulary. I grew up speaking and being around the opposite. It was because of who I chose to surround myself with as I became older that caused me to to start thinking and doing different. Today, I instill in my children and the students I work with the things I wasn’t taught coming up in the same community they are coming up in.
What is your best advice to women in Southwest Michigan looking to succeed, as you have, in business?
The best advice to women looking to succeed are two words: Work and Action. You have to put in work and take action for the success you desire. These words may sound simple but they are pivotal to your road to success.
