The Southwestern Michigan Tourist Council is unveiling a vibrant new way for locals and visitors to explore the region’s artistic murals. Starting immediately, the Southwest Michigan Murals Challenge invites participants to embark on a colorful adventure across Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties.
As fall color spreads across Southwest Michigan’s landscape, this new challenge offers a perfect opportunity to enjoy the spectacular fall foliage while discovering 30-plus unique murals throughout the area. With the stunning hues of autumn as a backdrop, participants can experience the region’s artistic flair and rich cultural heritage.
How It Works:
- Explore and Discover: Visit any of the 30-plus mural sites throughout Southwest Michigan and take in the fascinating stories these colorful walls tell.
- Check-In and Capture: Using the Visit Southwest Michigan app, check in at each mural location by uploading a photo of yourself in front of the mural.
- Earn Rewards: The first 100 participants to check in at 10 murals will receive a $15 St. Joe Today gift card and an exclusive Southwest Michigan Murals Challenge sticker. Each year, the sticker design will change, making it a collectible keepsake for dedicated explorers.

With over 10 mural locations in Benton Harbor alone, visitors can easily complete the challenge during their weekend stay. The interactive experience of finding and photographing murals, coupled with the chance to earn rewards, adds an element of adventure and excitement to your fall color tour.
