The Lakeside area in Southern Berrien County is the focus of continuing efforts by I & M Electric crews to restore power to homes and businesses. Their cautious estimate is that the job eill be completed later today.
Here is the late morning update from I & M:
Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) crews continue to clear the way to damaged equipment and make repairs in the hard-hit Lakeside, Mich., area. Many fallen trees and limbs blocked access and hampered repair efforts, but crews are making steady progress and I&M expects to have all remaining customers restored by 4 p.m. today.
Tuesday night’s severe storms and high winds caused extensive damage, including:
- More than 75 broken or damaged poles
- More than 180 downed power lines
- 15 damaged transformers
I&M crews, business partners and assistance crews are concentrated in the Lakeside area to continue to remove trees and limbs and restore power as quickly and safely as possible. We thank our customers for their patience while we work to get the lights back on. Crews will continue work until all customers who are able to receive power have been restored.
