The Cass County Sheriff’s Department has acquired a new K9, although this officer won’t be used to sniff out drugs.

The department says DD, or Dispatch Dog, has been donated to it by Cass County Animal Control to be used provide comfort and support to 911 dispatchers.

DD was found as a stray by animal control, but Director Ron Butts says he recognized she was special and saw potential in her. So, she’s been trained by Top Notch Service Dogs to help reduce stress and improve well-being at the 911 center, where she will live.

The sheriff’s department says DD will help it to reinforce its commitment to “serving the community with dedication and care.”
