The Benton Harbor Arts Association is hosting its annual Children’s Art Fair this Saturday, July 20.
From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., live performances, artists demonstrations, music, art stations, and other activities will take place at the Arts Park in the Benton Harbor Arts District. Vice President of the association Bethany Cubbage said she’s looking forward to the event and is looking to inspire the younger generation.
“I’m just excited to see all the kids out having a great time and learning about art,” Cubbage said. “When I was a kid, my parents used to take me down to the children’s art fair, so it’s really cool that I get to be a bigger part of it and help bring joy and memories to the kids in our community’s lives.”
Featured at the fair will be a children’s art exhibition. Children between the ages of 3 and 12 will have an opportunity to display their artwork and compete for prizes. Winners will win a scholarship that will go towards their art journey, and Cubbage said that’s only continuing their mission of inspiring the youth and supporting a vibrant art community.
“The event used to happen about 10 years ago. They would have it every summer. It brought in thousands of families from all over, and it just sticks to our mission statement of supporting a vibrant art community. We just like to inspire the younger generation to get into the arts. Arts make everyone happy and makes the world a better place, and it’s a way we can all come together as one.”
The Benton Harbor Arts Association hopes the fair aims to inspire and celebrate the artistic talents of students.
