The Bridgman Open Air Market is gearing up for its annual Kids Day this coming Sunday, July 14.

The event will feature homegrown flowers, fresh baked goods, dog treats, and several booths of handcrafted items made by local artisans. Market Manager Roseann Stachowiak says the day is an opportunity for parents and kids to have some fun and learn about the market and crafts for themselves.

“The Kids Day event was started as a way to draw the kids from the community into what we do and who we are,” Stachowiak  said. “To learn how we do things, how we make things, to get them involved. Let them show that they can do something besides get on a tablet or a computer.”

A few new activities will be introduced to the event this year, including live animals, pottery demonstrations, food trucks, and more.

“This year, we went for the one blacksmith. New is the eagle and the alpaca. We’ve never been able to have animals out, but there’ll be games for the kids. Each vendor will pick something different. The other fun thing we’re doing, eight of us have created fun facts eight of us have created fun facts that will be like a scavenger hunt bingo.”

Kids will also have the chance to take pictures with Bluey at the event.

People are encouraged to keep their skin covered near forge demonstrations, and open-toed shoes are not encouraged as they may lead to burns.
