The Corewell Health™ Center for Wellness – formerly Center for Better Health and Wellness – has moved to a spacious new building in downtown Benton Harbor, around the corner from its original facility.
Corewell Health Center for Wellness said in a statement that it has continuously adapted to meet the growing needs of the community, serving over 3,400 individuals since its opening in 2020. Corewell pointed out the new space is approximately 24,000 square feet – nearly 20 times larger than the previous location, adding adequate room to expand community-based health services.
“Collaboration with our community has been essential in the development and growth of the Corewell Health Center for Wellness,” said Nicki Britten, director, population health, Corewell Health.
“Thinking beyond traditional health care, we understand health outcomes are related to the characteristics of the places where people live, work and play. This expansion enables us to move closer to a state of health equity, where everyone lives their healthiest life, through specially tailored health and social services and initiatives. We are thrilled to be part of an entire network of community players advancing positive changes in Benton Harbor and beyond.”
Open now to patients, Corewell Health Center for Wellness offers health screenings, hypertension care, mental health counseling and maternal infant health programming such as parenting, childbirth and breastfeeding support classes. Nutrition and culinary education programming in the center’s new teaching kitchen will be added soon.
The center’s hours of operation are Monday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Corewell Health Center for Wellness is located at 133 W. Main St., Benton Harbor. The facility is a former Whirlpool departmental office location which was donated to Corewell to facilitate the expansion of the Wellness Center.
