St. Joseph Today—the downtown area’s promotional and marketing organization—has picked a new Executive Direcctor. Paul Knapp of St. Joseph will begin his new duties next week.
Knapp comes to St. Joe Today from his more than fifteen years of experience in the nonprofit world. He will take the reins from former director Amy Zapal who resigned at the beginning of January to take a position with the Corewell Health Foundation.
Board Secretary, Lauren Kniebes, of Lazy Ballerina Winery says she is very excited to have Paul Knapp joining the team, adding, “Paul’s professionalism, ideas for growth and his eagerness to serve his community impressed all of his and we’re confident he will do wonderful things for St. Joe Today and all of its members.”
Knapp brings a strong track record to the SJT team, having increased budget and program outreach for Southwest Michigan Young Life while building strong community relationships there. Prior to his role at SJT, Paul was involved in Mosaic CCDA and played many roles including leadership in emergency water distribution throughout the City of Benton Harbor, Interim Retail Sales Director and Operations Director.
Knapp has a passion for nonprofit leadership and community organization and says he looks forward to using his skill set to join an already established team of proficient tourism professionals.
Knapp says, “I love this community and am honored to have the opportunity to participate in its flourishing. My hope is that all who come to our wonderful town feel like they’re at home no matter their context. Thank you in advance for your trust and I look forward to seeing YOU out and about in beautiful Southwest Michigan.”
St. Joseph Today’s activities are centered downtown. However, its membership includes businesses throughout the area and the organization also promotes events beyond the City.
