Starting Thursday is the Y Country Cares St. Jude Radiothon.
Each year, the 97.5 Y Country crew holds the event to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which treats children battling cancer for free. Y Country’s Paul Layendecker tells us they’re looking for Partners in Hope.
“It’s people that donate nineteen dollars a month on their credit card all across the area, all across the world so that St. Jude parents don’t have to worry about how they’re going to pay to save their child’s life,” Layendecker said.
Layendecker says the St. Jude Radiothon has made a big difference over the years, all thanks to the kindness of listeners.
“We’ve been able to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in the more than 20 years that Y Country has hosted the Country Cares for Kids St. Jude Radiothon. We do it because we care for the kids.”
The Y Country team will broadcast all day Thursday and Friday to raise money for St. Jude. Last year, they collected more than $42,000.
This is Y Country’s 28th year raising funds for St. Jude.
