South Haven Ice Breaker Festival next weekend

Coming up next weekend will be the 30th annual South Haven Ice Breaker Festival.

South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce community liaison Brandy Key tells us the event attracts around 15,000 people to town each winter as they celebrate the season.

“We really want to let people know that our town is a busy town year-round, and we really want to help our businesses get through that slower slump here in the wintertime,” Key said.

Everything kicks off Friday, February 2 with ice skating, the snowsuit fashion show, and live music.

However, the big day is Saturday.

“We have the ice carving competition, the chili cookoff competition, we have lots of family friendly activities with a lot of the non-profits here in town. We will have a carboard sled race, a frozen fish fling, and new this year is a silent disco. It’ll be South Haven’s first silent disco, and we’re really excited about that.”

There will be activities all throughout town on Saturday, and there will be shuttles to take everyone where they need to go.

Key says the chili cookoff is an especially popular attraction. They’ll also unveil the new outdoor fireplace at Dyckman Park during the festival.
