Bridgman annexed into Harbor Country

The community of Bridgman has been annexed into Harbor Country.

While the designation has no impact on any official or government status within Berrien County, the state of Michigan, or the United States, the incorporation does add the Bridgman community to the strong commercial brand that umbrellas a significant portion of Southwest Michigan’s first line of tourist-driven community economies that attract tourists and local residents, alike.

The Harbor Country Chamber of Commerce formally announced the move, saying Bridgman will be added to the original eight communities under the trademarked brand Harbor Country. The brand was formed 43 years ago to brand, promote, and represent the southwestern-most region of Michigan.

Harbor Country Executive Director Kimberlee Wendt tells us that a group of Bridgman business owners were recently presented with a special declaration officially designating Bridgman a part of Harbor Country. In their news release, the group announced Bridgman will be represented alongside Michiana, Grand Beach, New Buffalo, Union Pier, Lakeside, Harbert, Sawyer, and Three Oaks.

“The Harbor Country Chamber is excited to promote the beach town as part of their tourism campaigns under the Harbor Country umbrella which highlight the best that the region offers for visitors.”

The Harbor Country brand supports “commerce and image” for the area through their social media activities, travel show presence, on the website HarborCountry.org, and within digital and printed publications.
