National Cinema Day Sunday Offers $ 3 Movie Tickets at Celebration

There’s a “day” for almost every cause, industry or interest.  So, it’s not surprising to learn that there’s a ‘National Cinema Day.’   The news of that observance this week came from the folks over at the Celebration Cinema chain, owners of many of the movie theaters in West Michigan, including Celebration Cinema in Benton Harbor.

Emily Loeks is Celebration’s Director of Community Affairs:

Just wanted to share the news that THIS SUNDAY has been designated ‘National Cinema Day’ by the whole theatre industry.  In collaboration with our distribution partners in Hollywood, Celebration Cinema is honoring the occasion with some very special offers:

$3.00 TICKETS:  All Day.  All Shows.  All Formats (including IMAX)
$3.00 POPCORN:  a regular small popcorn
$20.00 REFILLABLE BARBIE BUCKETS:  while supplies last!  These have been a hot item and are good through October 1st.
This is a bit of an adjustment from last year, when there was both ‘National Cinema Day’ and ‘Cinema Week’ – generated by two different industry think tanks J . Now, there is a coalescing around this one day.  It’s been moved off of Labor Day Weekend to the weekend prior, which we think is a particularly good move in Michigan!

In somewhat of a contract from last year, we also have had a MUCH stronger overall summer film slate – and this is super fun weekend to celebrate all of what has been brought to the big screen in recent weeks and months before moving into fall and holiday movies.  Some highlights still playing in theatres are:   BARBIE, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, OPPENHEIMER, THE MEG, SOUND OF FREEDOM, INDIANA JONES, THE MEG 2, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, THE LITTLE MERMAID, BLUE BEETLE… and more!  There are also some super interesting new niche films like GOLDA, and some anniversary re-releases including JURRASSIC PARK and OLDBOY.

We look forward to welcoming everyone this weekend.

Emily
