VIDEO: Southwest Mich. 12-year-old dazzles judges, advances on America’s Got Talent

A Southwest Michigan girl is headed to the next round on NBC’s America’s Got Talent.

In her national television debut on Tuesday, Paw Paw 12-year-old Brynn Cummings dazzled judges and the audience with her hybrid ventriloquist-mentalist performance at the popular talent competition.

Cummings performed several mentalist bits with the help of her puppet Penelope the Skunk, and every judge voted to sent her on to the next round.

“This is the best moment of my life,” said Cummings, after exiting the stage.

Cummings said she was inspired by former America’s Got Talent winner Darci Lynn, and hopes to follow in her footsteps.  According to the judges, Cummings could be on her way.

“The fact that you did magic or mentalism and ventriloquism at the same time,” Howie Mandel said. “You’re amazing, young lady.”

Cummings, who will be entering 7th grade at Paw Paw Middle School next year, also added a bit of comedy to her act, getting laughs from all the judges and the crowd. Simon Cowell said he’s never seen anything like it.

“You are so talented,” Cowell said. “So charming. People are going to root for you, … You never want to see the same thing again, but not quite as good. You want to see it better, or different – and that’s what you did.”
