St. Joseph Woman Bikes 545 Miles in California AIDS Ride

On June 4, St. Joseph resident and JohnsonRauhoff Photography Stylist, Bridget Edwards, started her bike ride in California’s AIDS/LifeCycle.  Over the course of 7 days, Bridget will have biked 545 miles along the coast of California, riding from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Each year, the ride has more than 2,800 people from around the world and this year was no exception!

As of June 3, AIDS/LifeCycle has raised over $11,711,785 and donations are still coming in! On Day 5, riders wear red (some with crazy costumes) in honor of those who have lost their lives and to bring even higher awareness to AIDS. Since 1994, AIDS/LifeCycle and its predecessor, the California AIDS Ride, have raised more than $286 million, making this particular event the largest fundraiser for HIV and AIDS in the world.

Co-produced by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center, AIDS/LifeCycle advances these agencies’ shared interest in reducing new HIV infections and improving the quality of life for people living with HIV/AIDS.

The ride helps raise awareness to end the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS as well as honor those who have passed from AIDS-related illnesses. For this year’s ride, Bridget, alone, has raised close to $5000! To donate, visit:
