St. Joseph City Commission authorized additional street work

St. Joseph City Commissioners have approved some additions to a street resurfacing project planned for this year. At a Monday meeting, city commissioners signed off on a change order adding more streets to what was originally planned. City Engineer Tim Zebell tells us the initial plan included work on Lions Park Drive and South State Street.

“The additional streets that were approved tonight are Church, Court, and Wayne Street from Broad Street to Park Street, Pearl Street from Wayne Street to Langley Avenue, Park Street from the Park Street bridge west to Lake Street, and Lake Court,”

Zebell says the city happened to get a great bid, which allowed for more streets to be added. The original cost for project was $147,000, and with these new additions, it will be $391,000. The budget set aside $500,000. Zebell said the streets were selected for work because of when they most recently had resurfacing projects. Some of them were last done in the early 2000s. This new project is to take place in May.
