A former Lakeshore High School student is returning to her alma mater.
The Lakeshore School Board announced Monday at its regular meeting they will be hiring former district student Sarah Blazic to be a high school math teacher next year.
Assistant Superintendent Julie Powell said during the meeting she is confident Blazic will be a great hire.
“She killed it in the interview,” Powell said. “She was a rockstar.”
Blazic, formerly Sarah Klug, currently teaches math at Berkley High School near Detroit. Powell said said she is very well liked at Berkley, but neither her nor her husband had family there, so they decided to come back to Lakeshore.
“We said this at the table of the interview … whenever we’ve bet on our own people, it’s paid off for us,” Powell said. “Every time we invest in a Lakeshore graduate, it has paid off. So we’re really excited. It’s not easy to fill any of our positions and she’s going to be great.”
Blazic received her bachelor’s degree from The University of Michigan and her Masters from Michigan State.
