Lakeshore softball shows off 2022 state championship rings at school board meeting

At it’s regular meeting on Monday, the Lakeshore school board honored the state champion Lancers softball team, who won their 8th title this summer under coach Denny Dock.

Several members of the team attended the meeting, adorned with their championship rings. Lakeshore Superintendent Greg Eding congratulated the team in front of the room.

“This past Friday, they were honored at the football game with receiving their state championship rings,” Eding said. “[It] is obviously a big honor – something that they can carry with them the rest of their lives.”

Coach Dock, who has led the team to all eight titles dating back to 1998, also addressed board members.

“It’s quite an honor,” he said. “These kids were amazing the whole season. We played our best in the tournament. … It’s high pressure, it’s amazing competition and we just fought like crazy.”

Lakeshore is tied with Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes and Unionville-Sebewaing for the most softball championships in state history. The Lancers finished with a record of 40-4.
