Berrien Community Foundation has increased the amount awarded through their ‘For Good Grant’ program to $15,000 per grant to local nonprofits. Applications are due September 30, 2022.
“The maximum grant amount had been set at $10, 0 for several years,” said BCF President Lisa Cripps-Downey. “Our volunteers review grant applications, and we see the needs increasing. It really made sense to give our volunteers the opportunity to give more to help our nonprofits succeed as they do work in the community.”
The For Good Major Grant was increased to $15,000 from $10,000, and the minor grant was increased from $1,000 to $1,500. The “For Good” Minor has a shorter, simpler form geared toward organizations with a smaller request and the “For Good” Major is a standard-length grant application. This grant opportunity is available to 501c3 nonprofit organizations, schools, religious organizations doing community work and government organizations who are serving Berrien County.
“As the assets of the Berrien Community Foundation increase, we are able to give more,” said BCF Board President Bob Harrison. “The board looked at the needs and decided increasing our grant limits is the best step for our community.”
Free community concerts, summer camp scholarships and teaching parenting classes are just a few of the many ideas Berrien Community Foundation has funded in recent years. All grant applications fall into one of the following categories: arts, children, community development and special needs, education, environment, health, seniors, and youth leadership and development.
