South Bend International Airport (SBN) has achieved Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR™ accreditation for the second year. Under the guidance of GBAC, a division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, SBN has implemented the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention.
The program verifies that best practices are in place to prepare for, respond to and recover from outbreaks and pandemics. To achieve GBAC STAR accreditation, SBN was required to demonstrate compliance with the program’s 20 core elements, which range from standard operating procedures and risk assessment strategies to personal protective equipment and emergency preparedness and response measures.
“Our devotion to a clean airport is of the utmost importance because it directly impacts the safety of our travelers,” said SBN CEO and Executive Director Mike Daigle. “This accreditation demonstrates our commitment to provide our guests, staff and all individuals that visit SBN with a safe, clean environment.”
