There’s been a lot of attention lately on the House of David, with a documentary movie that’s been viewed at many special screenings throughout Southwest Michigan in the past several weeks. If that’s stimulated your awareness and interest in the House of David’s history in the area, you might be interested in a ‘limited time’ exhibit at the History Center at Courthouse Square in Berrien Springs, running for the next couple of months:
The Melodious Faithful: The Musical History of the House of David
July 13 – October 2, 2022
Sheriff’s Residence @ The History Center at Courthouse Square
Free to the Public
The BCHA is delighted to partner with the Israelite House of David to host their new traveling exhibit, The Melodious Faithful. As our third exhibit of the year, Faithful gives guests a look into one of the commune’s most important activity. While the park and baseball teams captured America’s imagination, the bands of the House of David played across the U.S. to critical acclaim.
The exhibit will feature both popular and never-before-seen photos of the bands, the musicians, and performances. Recently restored instruments used by members will be on display as well! This exhibit is perfect for music lovers and House of David enthusiasts alike
The History Center at Courthouse Square is operated by the Berrien County Historical Association and is located in Berrien Springs, MI. Since 1967, the BCHA has operated the five buildings located on Courthouse Square, including the 1839 courthouse, an 1830s log cabin, a recreated blacksmith forge, an 1870s sheriff’s residence, and the 1860s county records building. For more information about our exhibits and programs, contact the BCHA at 269-471-1202. Find us online, on Facebook, on Youtube, and on Instagram.
