This Thursday, May 26th, find your way to Local Pour in Sawyer from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m, for a World Central Kitchen Fundraiser for Ukraine. Anna Strach is working with community members, friends, and local artists looking to help make a difference in the lives of those affected by the current devastation in Ukraine.
Heartbreaking videos and news articles from Ukraine flood our social media feeds daily, and Anna, having recently welcomed a niece and nephew into the world, realized that living in historic times, we cannot sit idly by. She and Chalet Sturgeon, owner of Local Pour, have teamed up to raise money for World Central Kitchen, an organization serving hot meals to displaced persons and families seeking refuge at eight borders across Poland, supporting local restaurants in cities across Ukraine, and on the ground in multiple other countries.
Local Pour opened in 2021, as ‘a tasting room with a twist’, and features Michigan-made beverages such as wine, cider, and beer. They will be donating 50% of profits from Thursday’s event to World Central Kitchen, and the evening promises to be filled with camaraderie and drinks for a good cause. There will be live music by Ed Skjordal, art pieces by local artists available for purchase, a bake sale, the Livery’s Ukrainian beer on tap, and more. Visit 12857 Red Arrow Highway, Thursday evening, May 26th, and contribute to this worthy cause.
