Rotary Interact Club Student Career Night Attracts 70 Professionals Thursday at SJHS

Over 70 career professionals will be hosting tables at the 6th Annual Career Night at St. Joseph High School, presented by the Rotary sponsored Interact Club.  It happens this Thursday, February 24, 6-7:30 PM in the Student Center at SJHS.

Open to all local students and their parents, the event provides an opportunity for young people to learn more about career fields across many industries. A few of the professions/companies represented at the event include: Four Winds Casino, JohnsonRauhoff, Lake Michigan College, Stryker and Whirlpool Corporation.

Rotary Youth Services Chair, Jackie Huie is excited about the opportunity for students to learn first-hand about many different potential careers.  She praised the ‘student Rotarians’–members of Interact– who put it all together.

“I am SUPER proud of Interact Club Mentoring Director, Ani Ale, for his hard work putting together the 6th Annual Career Night. We are especially excited about this particular event since we have a lot of surprises awaiting attendees, including an Oculus giveaway. Over 70 professionals have signed up to host tables in-person and remotely from locations as far away as California, Florida and Virginia. I truly hope both students and parents take advantage of the opportunity to connect with this room full of professionals and can see no greater opportunity to explore a variety of careers.”

This year’s event will also include a “meet & greet” opportunity for parents to learn more about Rotary International and the hosting local Rotary Club of St. Joseph-Benton Harbor.

Rotary members say membership offers opportunities for networking and service locally and internationally as well as numerous other benefits.  Interact clubs allow students to get a ‘preview’ of Rotary during their high school career, under the guidance of active Rotarians.
