New Buffalo Elementary School celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the Bison Student Credit Union on Monday, November 29th. The Bison Student Credit Union, a division of Honor, is located inside the school, led by the students with the help
of Honor team members, and designed to teach children the importance of saving at a young age.
Honor’s Virtual Engagement Manager, John Backus, New Buffalo Area Schools Superintendent, Jeff Leslie, and school Principal Adam Bowen spoke to students and teachers from grades Kindergarten-5th to announce the official opening of the Bison Student Credit Union. Collectively, they highlighted the importance of bringing a student credit union to the school, the life skills they will learn, how students can get involved, and the fun prizes that come along the way.
Operating the student credit union for the Bison are six student tellers who joined Honor to cut the ribbon and mark it officially open for the Bison! Following the ribbon-cutting, students were invited to grab Honor swag and treats to end the ceremony.
The Bison Student Credit Union will be open to accept deposits from students and teachers at the elementary school every other Friday from 8:00-8:20am beginning on December 3rd.
