Berrien RESA chief wins award for special education leadership

Berrien RESA Superintendent Eric Hoppstock has been awarded the Marvin Beekman Award for 2020 by the Michigan Association of Administrators of Special Education. Hoppstock was given the award at the group’s annual summer institute last week. RESA says the Marvin Beekman Award recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves in the administration and leadership of special education programs at the local, regional, or state level. The winner is selected by a committee that focuses on the candidate’s education, experience, administrative responsibilities, honors, organizational memberships, and involvement. Association President Renee Thelen said Hoppstock is “caring, diplomatic, and always does what’s best for students.” Hoppstock was named RESA’s superintendent in June of 2020.
