Girls On The Run names Keshia Dickason new Executive Director

Girls on the Run of Southwest Michigan has named a new Executive Director.  She is Keshia Dickason of the Kalamazoo area.  The announcement was made by Heather Cole, president of the Board of Directors.

Dickason’s background as an executive director, combined with her passion for Girls on the Run and health awareness, will help further and advance the mission of Girls on the Run of Southwest Michigan.  “We are thrilled to have Keshia as our new Executive Director,” says Heather Cole, Girls on the Run of Southwest Michigan Board Chair.  “She brings great experience, enthusiasm, and passion for inspiring healthy communities to our local council.  We’re looking forward to many successful seasons with Keshia leading the way.”

Dickason received her bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Cornerstone University and her master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Strayer University.  A long-time Girls on the Run coach, she is passionate about healthy communities!  She chairs her sorority’s Women’s Health and Wellness initiative, works with the American Heart Association for their annual Heart Walk and Pink Goes Red Heart Health Awareness Day, and also serves as an ambassador for “Run This Town Kalamazoo.”

In 2016, Keshia authored her first children’s book entitled Arianna’s First 5K, a story about her daughter’s journey toward her first 5K and the motivation it gave her in her elementary years. She serves as a Board Director for Kids Moving and Thriving, Chair for the AKA Walking for the Health of It initiative, and the S.T.A. R. S (Sisters Taking Action Reversing Statistics) running group.

Dickason will begin her role full-time later in August, managing all day-to-day operations and fundraising projects for Girls on the Run.  She says “Being Healthy isn’t a fad or trend, it’s a lifestyle. Your health is your wealth”!

Dickason will oversee the 2022 season, which will kick off in late February.  “After a 2021 season full of challenges created by the pandemic, we’re hopeful for a strong 2022 season where we can serve more girls and grow our partnerships in Southwest Michigan” says Cole.  “Girls on the Run of Southwest Michigan continues to move forward, and with our new Executive Director in place, we’re ready to get our season kicked off!”
