In a short time Michigan children will be getting back to school, and after a yearlong struggle with COVID-19 related delays, there’s something Michigan families can start thinking about – saving for your child’s college tuition expenses. Now, rather than later!
The Michigan Education Trust (MET) program and Michigan Education Savings Plan (MESP) are flexible opportunities that lets parents buy college tuition at today’s rates, but can be used at a later date.
If your child was born in 2021, most likely he or she will walk onto a college campus in 2039. According to U.S. News, the current tuition fees for the 2020-2021 academic year at a private university are estimated around $40,000, and $26,000 at a public university.
Imagine what those rates will be like by the time a baby born today enters college.
Financially savvy and wise parents can consider easing those college expenses by joining one of Michigan’s 529 prepaid tuition plans.
