If you’re a Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, or Sidney Poitier fan, you might be interested in attending The GhostLight Theatre’s modern version of “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.” Originally debuted in 1967 and written by William Rose, the performance modernizes the comedy-drama, which centers on cultural, racial, political, and social issues as a carefree white woman is engaged to a black doctor, and brings him home to meet her parents. Hepburn, Tracy and Poitier won high praise and numerous awards for their portrayals in the movie version.
Performance dates and times are: 7: 30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, August 5,6,7,12,13, and 14 and a matinee at 3 p.m. on Sundays, August 8 and 15.
This Sunday, August 8, audience members can continue and participate in conversation immediately after the show with panelists, and community leaders from “both sides of the river.” GhostLight Theatre is located at 101 Hinkley Street in the Benton Harbor Arts District.
The GhostLight Theatre will be at Acorn Theatre, in Three Oaks, for an encore performance of “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner on Sunday, August 22.
