Rapid SHAES Firefighter Response Limits Fire Damage at South Haven Business

Rapid response to an early morning fire call at Adventure Water Sports in South Haven today saved the incident from becoming a total disaster.

South Haven Area Emergency Services crews were rolled out at 6:46am this morning to the call at 141 Dunkley Avenue in South Haven where fire was leaping from the front of the building at Adventure Water Sports.

It was South Haven Area Emergency Services Deputy Chief Keith Bierhalter who discovered the flames while driving to work after spotting smoke, followed by the fire at the front of the commercial building.

The quick response by firefighters managed to limit the fire to the front of the building although the entire structure did suffer smoke damage according to authorities on the scene. The cause of the early morning blaze remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.

Adventure Water Sports has been a staple on the business scene as a family-owned business for more than 30 years, featuring boat and jet ski rentals just north of the Dyckman Avenue Bridge on the Black River Channel.
