Saying “Michigan families have had enough,” the head of the Michigan Freedom Fund is calling on Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer to “follow the science, the data,” and end all state restrictions going forward.
Freedom Fund Executive Director Tori Sachs has issued the call to Governor Whitmer to follow not only the science and data, but also the leads of Democrat and Republican governors across the nation by ending her “disastrous, job-killing pandemic orders,” and by immediately ending her ongoing battle to establish permanent COVID-19 restrictions on job sites and customers across the state.
The Detroit News reports that Whitmer will soon provide an update on “Michigan’s response to COVID-19 with the state experiencing improving infection rates and expectations that her administration will soon ease gathering restrictions.”
Freedom Fund’s Sachs contends, “Michigan is well past the need to ‘ease’ Governor Whitmer’s lockdown orders – it’s time for the governor to follow the science and end them,” adding, “Vaccines are available to anyone over sixteen who wants one and Michigan is ready to get back to work. Instead, Whitmer is clinging to lockdown rules that contradict science and devastate workers, families, schoolchildren. At the same time, she is fighting to make her COVID-19 workplace rules and restrictions permanent.”
Sachs concludes, “Governor Whitmer, Michigan families have had enough. Follow the science. It’s not enough to just ease restrictions, it’s time to end them all.”
