If your travels routinely take you down Holden Road in the vicinity of Baroda and Lake Townships, here’s a heads up for you regarding a detour you will face on that route beginning at mid-week and running for up to two weeks depending on weather conditions and contractor speeds.
The Berrien County Road Department tells us that Holden Road will be closed between Snow Road and Browntown Road beginning this Wednesday, December 9th with work expected to take approximately two weeks depending on the weather and other issues.
A contractor doing work to the Sober & Becker Drain for the Berrien County Drain Commission will have Holden Road closed in order to complete culvert replacements.
Road Department authorities say that this project will extend the life and operation of the Sober & Becker Drain. Cross-tube replacement will provide structural stability to the road and assure safety to the traveling public.
Holden Road will be closed to thru traffic at the Sober & Becker Drain. The culvert is located approximately a half mile south of the Snow Road intersection. Closure will begin on Wednesday, and authorities are reminding travelers in that region to seek alternative routes or use the recommended detour route until work is completed.
The recommended detour route will be Snow Road to Cleveland Avenue and then back to Browntown Road, as shown in the graphic accompanying this story on Moody on the Market.
