The Moody on the Market leadership awards series has rolled out the 2020 Class of the Fifteen Under 15 Top Small Business Enterprises in Southwest Michigan with 15 or fewer employees. The judges’ work is complete, the votes have been tabulated, and the winning companies now take center stage.
Thanks to the underwriting sponsorship of the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber and McGhee’s Heating & Air Conditioning with support from the Mason Jar Cafe and United Way of Southwest Michigan, we look forward to recognizing these outstanding small companies and organizations in the region who continue to make a difference in the quality of life in Michigan’s Great Southwest.
Selection Committee Chairman, Zach Vaughn, a member of the 40 Under 40 Top Young Professionals earlier this year, chose Korbin Stokes, Ellie Moerdyk and Sarah Spoonholtz to adjudicate the 43 entries turned in this year, working to narrow the field to the Top 15. Not an easy task, and a huge thank you to their hard work in giving us the winners list.
The winners have been posted this morning, Friday, November 13th after being revealed on the Taking the Lead Radio Show with Jim Gifford and Spencer Rivers on WSJM Radio, 94.9FM, when we revealed the list and told a bit about each of the companies on it.
They come from a cross section of communities from Buchanan to Watervliet, and a wide range of sectors including retailers, hospitality industry members, recreation and sports, the service industry, the professional ranks, and even the non-profit sector.
The businesses that have won have anywhere from as few as 2 employees up to the limit of 15, and lots of spaces in between.
Ordinarily, we have hosted an awards celebration a couple of weeks down the road to honor the winners, but the coronavirus pandemic has already derailed that process for the 40 Under 40 and will do the same for the Fifteen Under 15. The Mid-West Family promotions team is currently assembling plans for a drive-in or drive-thru style event for both award groups on the same day in the first 10 days of December and will keep everyone posted on those plans to get the hard-earned hardware into the hands of the rightful winners of both competitions.
Thanks again to the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber and McGhee’s Heating and Air Conditioning for their underwriting sponsorships with support from the Mason Jar Cafe and United Way of Southwest Michigan.
Be sure to the Fifteen Under 15 tab at the top of the page here at Moody on the Market to see the list of winners and their great stories.
