Jefferson Lofts Developer Creates New Loft Sites in Downtown St. Joe

One of the key developers who turned around the fame and fortune of the Jefferson Lofts Condominium Development on South State Street in St. Joseph has assembled two new condo units in the heart of downtown St. Joseph now available, although one might already be under contract.

Developer Craig Rismiller, whose success dramatically converted the former Jefferson Elementary School Building into a 22-unit development that is fully occupied, crafted the second floor units in the 300 block of State Street in the central business district over several retail storefronts including State Street Stuff, Forever Books and Oh My Darling.

Like the Jefferson Lofts project, Rismiller has capitalized on 12-foot ceilings, exposed industrial looks like an urban loft typically shares, original brick walls dating back to the 1920s and other great amenities.

Realtor Joe Flood and Tammy Stelling are the listing agents for Rismiller’s development, with views over the Lake Bluff and Lake Michigan in St. Joseph.

Here is the real estate listing description of the loft condos shared with me by Flood:

Highly desirable downtown St. Joseph Condo in the heart of the city. Walking distance to Silver Beach, shopping and restaurants. Enjoy walking to the year-round activities on the lake bluff like farmers markets, antiques, art fairs, and local craft beer and wine festivals. Close proximity to multiple marinas as well as Harbor Shores Golf Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus.• 100% gut rehab with brand new electrical, plumbing, windows, roof, etc. • 12ft ceilings throughout • Exposed industrial look: ductwork, sprinkler system, I-beams • Original 1920’s brick walls • Solid J&K cabinetry with soft-close • Quartz countertops • Range hood • Subway backsplash • Open living room, kitchen and dining room

Flood also shares these details about the development:

  • 2 full bathrooms with tiling throughout
  • 3.25 solid red oak hardwoods
  • High-end fixtures
  • Storage space in the basement for beach toys, etc.
  • Rooftop deck with lake views

(Full disclosure, I live in one of the Jefferson Lofts condos, but have no vested interest in the downtown project.)
