Usually in the financial realm, a rainmaker is a good thing. It refers to a prolific money maker, so nobody should be surprised in the least that even last Friday’s rainmaker forecast couldn’t halt the team at Honor Credit Union from continuing with the long laid plans to break ground for their new Berrien Springs Member Center. 
Despite that rainy forecast, the event marched on at 8952 Old US 31 in Berrien Springs back on Friday, October 23rd. Huddled under canopies and umbrellas, Honor team members were joined by guest speakers, Rob Cleveland, President and CEO of Cornerstone Alliance, and Mike Hildebrand, Supervisor at Oronoko Charter Township.
With shovels in hand, Honor Board Chair, Mimi Elwell, Honor CEO, Scott McFarland, Member Center Manager, Andrew Cleminshaw, Team Lead Bonnie Ferrier, and community partners gathered to break ground on the new member center located directly in front of the existing building.
Cleminshaw told the crowd, “I look forward to providing all of our members in Berrien Springs with the positive experience they’re used to,” and added, “The new member center will be one of a kind to this area and will provide our member-owners an even greater opportunity to take control of their finances in an uplifting and empowering atmosphere.”
Led by contractor E.C. Moore and designed by Intersect Studio, the Berrien Springs Member Center will be built using a phased construction plan. With the new build, the mindset of providing the best member experience continues to be a priority. Members can expect the addition of Honor’s ATM Live Tellers, which will provide self-service solutions to make banking simpler and easier. The existing member center will remain open while the new facility is under construction, with the new Berrien Springs Center expected to open in the Summer of 2021.
