Michigan Works! Offering Virtual Job Fair Series

If you’ve been looking for a job in recent weeks, but have found it challenging to get close to completing a full interview process, has Michigan Works! got a deal for you.

With nearly 300 available jobs currently on the open market in Michigan’s Great Southwest, the team at Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, Van Buren is launching a series of Virtual Job Fairs on August 11th.

There are roughly 290 available jobs in southwest Michigan each week and Michigan Works! is working to help fill the gap with that series of virtual job fairs.

Those looking for a job can find it challenging to get the full interview experience during the current pandemic and employers looking for individuals who fit their open positions may be experiencing a similar challenge which is why Michigan Works! is helping to fill the gap.

Lily Brewer, Executive Director of Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, Van Buren, says, “We know that the current environment is challenging for both those applying for jobs and those hiring individuals to join their team and we believe this will be a solution for both parties.” She further explains, “Our team will allow employers to have a few minutes at the beginning of every virtual hiring event to explain why a job seeker should join their team and explain what makes their company stand out. Then, we will have break-out rooms for more robust conversations between employers and job seekers.”

Lily explained that this “Shark Tank” method of information sharing eliminates the uncomfortable feelings that attending job seekers have traditionally faced when attend hiring events and it also allows the employer to share more information about their company.

The two scheduled virtual hiring events will take place on Tuesday, August 11th and Tuesday, August 25th from 10 AM to noon.

Job seekers who would like to attend are required to register at the link below in order to receive the Zoom Meeting link. Those attending the Zoom meeting are encouraged to arrive interview ready with an updated resume. Here’s the registration link:
