While Berrien County’s number of positive cases of the coronavirus only moved up by two today to a total of 60 county wide, they also have reported Berrien’s second death to due to COVID-19.
The Berrien County Health Department says, “We are saddened to report another death due to COVID-19 in a male, over 65 who had underlying medical conditions and had been hospitalized prior to his passing.” Cass County remains unchanged at 7 cases and one death, and Van Buren County has added two to their total of 16 cases, but still just one death from the virus.
Statewide, Michigan now has 17,221 cases and 727 deaths…that’s an increase of 110 deaths since yesterday, and an increase of 1,503 cases since Sunday’s total. Click the link below for the statewide, county-by-county update:

Regarding the latest death, Berrien County Health Department Health Officer Nicki Britten says, “This loss of life is tragic and we send our deep condolences to the family,” and adds, “We remain committed to slowing the spread of this virus to try to minimize the loss of life in our community during these unprecedented times.”
Berrien County reports that a total of 28 people have now recovered from the COVID-19 virus since contracting the disease.
