Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is slated to conduct a press conference at 11am this morning to update the state on measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Detroit Free Press is quoting sources as saying that she will announce a “stay at home” order for everyone in Michigan.
The Free Press says that Whitmer had conducted a conference call with a host of business leaders including those, like Rich Studley from the State Chamber, who have voiced considerable concern over that degree of warning and fears of damage to the economy.
However, even he is quoted as saying this morning after conversing with the Governor and others that he is optimistic “she will find that middle ground.”
Several other states have instituted shelter in place orders, including neighboring Illinois.
Stay tuned for more from the Governor following her press conference at 11am.
