A veteran second-generation Firefighter and Paramedic in South Haven has launched the New Year with a major promotion in house at the South Haven Area Emergency Services team. Paul Quinn has gained the rank of Fire Captain for the department and will now oversee day-to-day operations for his shift, as well as assuming the responsibilities of Department Training Officer. The word came today from Fire Chief Ron Wise.
Quinn has served the South Haven community for 26 years, first with the former Casco Fire Department and for 18 years as a fulltime firefighter-paramedic for the South Haven Area Emergency Services unit.
Paul is a second generation firefighter, serving with his firefighter father, Jim Quinn. He is certified as a Level 1 Fire Instructor for the State of Michigan and has headed his department’s fire prevention education bureau for the last 16 years. Last year, 2019, he was selected by his peers as the department’s Firefighter of the Year.
South Haven Area Emergency Services provides fire suppression and emergency medical care services to the City of South Haven and the Townships of Casco, Geneva and South Haven. The department responds from three stations with a complement of 16 full-time and 30 paid-on-call staff members. The department responded to more than 2,000 calls in 2019.
