Everybody who has found their way into the new First Church of God Ministry Center on the Benton Heights Campus has been wowed at the work completed over the last seven months, and now the public is being invited to the formal Ribbon Cutting Ceremony this Friday evening with the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber of Commerce and church officials.
The facility underwent formal dedication ceremonies back on Sunday, but this is the formal ribbon cutting affair for the center located at 990 N. Euclid Avenue in Benton Heights.
This Friday, November 1st from 4:30 to 5:30pm, the center will host the ceremonies. It marks the seven month mark since first breaking ground on the new facility. Construction first began back in March on the 9,000 square-foot building with a gymnasium, and has the distinction of being the only new construction in the Benton Heights area in the last 30 years.
The new building will allow for more room to host the growing congregation, as well as a touch point for the community. First Church Lead Pastor David Colp says, “There are many areas that we’ve been dreaming about to best serve the Benton Heights community, and the new building is just the beginning of what we hope will become basketball and volleyball leagues, after-school reading programs, additional classes and community forums. It truly will become a place that everyone in the Benton Heights community can use.”
First Church of God, with locations in St. Joseph and Stevensville, has had a presence in Benton Heights since it absorbed the former Benton Heights Church of God back in 2010.
