Another shooting incident late Wednesday night has officers from the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety both shaking their heads and appealing to public witnesses to step forward to try to solve the case.
Deputy Director Michael Clark says that shortly before midnight last night his department was called out to the 800 block of Lavette Street in the city following a shooting incident. That incident left a 24-year old Benton Harbor woman who lived there wounded by gunfire and a 27-year old man suffering from a physical assault altercation.
The woman is being treated at Spectrum Health Lakeland and is currently in stable condition, while the man was treated and released by physicians.
Deputy Director Clark says, “This shooting is being investigated and details will be released later as the investigation progresses.” He adds, “Detectives are asking for any witnesses to come forward, or anyone with any details to please provide that information.”
Detectives from the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety are being assisted by Michigan State Police Mobile Crime Unit Detectives, Berrien County Sheriff’s Department Road Patrol members and Berrien County Sheriff’s Department Evidence Technicians.
