A former Economic Developer for Michigan’s Great Southwest has honored a current Economic Developer for Michigan City, Indiana with a new statewide award recognizing his significant contributions to the quality of life in his home state.
Clarence Hulse, Executive Director of the Economic Development Corporation of Michigan City, has received the first ever Shining Star Award from the Indiana Economic Development Association (IEDA) at their recent statewide economic development conference. He received the award from former Cornerstone Alliance economic developer Wendy Dant Chesser.
The Shining Star Award was created to highlight professionals in economic development that are creative and committed to professional economic development in Indiana and have a track record of significant accomplishment.
Hulse has a track record in two Indiana communities, Michigan City and Jeffersonville, in creating sustainable solutions for economic issues and has demonstrated his commitment to excellence in the field of community and economic development.

Clarence has worked in the City of Michigan City for 6 years now, and the city has seen tremendous job growth and economic investment under his leadership. The EDCMC is currently rolling out its new Strategic Economic Development Action Plan 2019-2013 which will focus on economic inclusiveness, workforce development, place-making, storytelling and economic modernization.
