The disgrace of flying a tattered American flag high over your home or business should be readily apparent, but if you haven’t thought about it, let this be a reminder to you.
The good news is, if you have a tattered American flag that needs to be properly disposed of, a Bangor Boy Scout Troop is ready to help.
Bangor Boy Scout Troop 194 will host a flag retirement ceremony on Thursday, September 5th during the Michigan Flywheelers Museum’s Antique Engine and Tractor Show.
The formal ceremony will take place at 7 pm in front of the troop’s lodge which is located right at the museum. The ceremony will feature official Retirement Honor Guard and Duty Honor Guards as they follow Scout procedure to burn old flags.
The public is welcome to attend. Admission to the show, which runs from Thursday, September 5th to Sunday, September 8th is $7.00 per person. Children under are 12 admitted free with a paid adult admission. The Michigan Flywheelers Museum is located on 68th street, two miles east of South Haven. If you are unable to attend the show, flags can be dropped off at the museum on Wednesdays, Saturdays or Sundays for inclusion in the flag retirement ceremonies.
Don’t let your business or home be the example of how not to properly fly America’s symbol of freedom.
