As drone photography increases in popularity for the Real Estate community worldwide, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has agreed to renew the role of a Southwestern Michigan Real Estate professional on the board of Michigan’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems Task Force for another term of office.
The re-appointment of New Buffalo Realtor Daniel J. Coffey was one of several appointments and re-appointments to various Michigan boards, committees and commissions announced Friday by the Governor.
The Unmanned Aircraft Systems Task Force was created to develop statewide policy recommendations on the operation, use, and regulation of unmanned aircraft systems in this state, including drones of all types.
Coffey, of New Buffalo, is a Realtor and owner of RE/MAX Harbor Country in Union Pier. He has been reappointed to represent a member of a statewide association that represents real estate brokers licensed in Michigan and nominated by the President of that association, for a term expiring July 31, 2023.
Also named by Whitmer to the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Task Force were:
- Andrew J. Cardinale, of Clarkston, the senior engineer of overhead line asset management for ITC Holdings. Cardinale is appointed to succeed Charles Drayton, whose term expired July 31, 2019, to represent persons that operate key facilities, for a term expiring July 31, 2023.
- John P. Hill, of Traverse City, the regional supervisor to the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Traverse City branch. Hill is reappointed to represent a member from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development nominated by the director of the department, for a term expiring July 31, 2023.
- Christopher Johnson, of Northville, the legal counsel for the Michigan Municipal League. Johnson is reappointed to represent a member from the Michigan Municipal League nominated by the executive director of the league, for a term expiring July 31, 2023.
The Governor also announced appointments to:

- Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards
- Michigan Onion Committee
- Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs
- Early Childhood Investment Corporation Executive Committee

None of her appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate, so they are automatically in effect as appointed by the Governor.
