Governor Whitmer Appoints St. Joseph Pastor to Michigan Board of Pharmacy

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced a host of appointments to various state boards and commissions, among them a pastor from right here in Southwest Michigan.

David Hills of St. Joseph, a pastor with Stevensville United Methodist Church has been reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2023.

The Michigan Board of Pharmacy was enacted as part of the Public Health Code to license the practice of pharmacy as a health service, the clinical application of which includes the encouragement of safety and efficacy in the prescribing, dispensing, administering and use of drugs and related articles for the prevention of illness and the maintenance and management of health. The Public Health Code mandates certain responsibilities and duties for a health professional licensing board including promoting and protecting the public’s health, safety, and welfare.

The other appointees to the Michigan Board of Pharmacy include:

Grace Sesi of Troy, a licensed pharmacist and the Greater Detroit Area district leader for CVS Health. Sesi is appointed to succeed Nichole Penny, whose term expired June 30, 2019, to represent for a term expiring June 30, 2023.

Sandra C. Taylor of Farmington Hills, a licensed pharmacist and the director of pharmacy operations for Beaumont Healthcare System – Royal Oak Campus. Taylor is appointed to succeed Suit Hing “Mary” Moy-Sandusky, whose term expired June 30, 2019, to represent pharmacists for a term expiring June 30, 2023.

Maria Young of Canton, a licensed pharmacist and the owner of the University Pharmacy in Hamtramck. Young is appointed to succeed Patti Smeelink, whose term expired June 30, 2019, to represent pharmacists for a term expiring June 30, 2023.

Kelli Oldham of East Lansing, the director of pharmacy and retail operations for Walgreens Co. Oldham is appointed to succeed Tyler Paesens, who has resigned, to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2022.
