If you’re one of those who loves to dig around in the bargain bin at your favorite story, flea market, or any other opportunity to get the deal of the day, the State of Michigan has a unique, one day only, opportunity for you to grab some deals at their pop up store a week from Saturday.
The state of Michigan’s Surplus Store will be open for one day only on Saturday, December 8th, from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm. The Surplus Store offers up a vast inventory of surplus items from multiple sources. You’ll find items including property seized by police, things voluntarily surrendered at airports, surplus property from local public colleges and property that is otherwise no longer needed by government agencies across the state.
Items available through the store include things like:
- Computers
- Phones
- Cameras
- Computer accessories
- Various knives
- Wine keys
- Sporting goods
- Musical equipment
- Tools
- Automotive equipment
- Desks
- File cabinets
- Chairs
- Book shelves
- Jewelry
- Other fashion accessories
- and more…
All items involved in the sale are sold in untested, “as is” and “where is” condition. No returns or refunds will be allowed on any item purchased, and all items must be paid in full on the day of the sale. The state will accept cash, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. For bulky or heavy items, or anything else for that matter, there will be no loading assistance provided, so plan to bring your own “handlers.”
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB) is responsible for collecting the items and making them available for purchase through the surplus store, which normally operates only online. Access is also provided to the federal surplus program for government agencies and non-profit organizations.
