Lory’s Place Founder Named Leader of Distinction by 100 Women Strong

If you’re being honored by 100 Women Strong, your personal strength is undoubtedly in the SuperWoman range or you wouldn’t likely qualify. Having been the very face of strength and courage for many years at Lory’s Place there is little doubt whatsoever that the 2018 honoree brings the ultimate qualification to the table to earn that high honor. Lisa Bartoszek is the epitome of compassion, ever strong in the shadows of grief at a job nobody should ever have to do. For that, she will be honored next month by 100 Women Strong.

100 Women Strong is the nonprofit organization that provides emergency funds to Berrien County women, and they will host their 7th Annual Leaders of Distinction Luncheon at 11:30am on Thursday, October 25th, at Shadowland on Silver Beach, located at  333 Broad Street, below the bluff in St. Joseph.

Lynne Christiano, Co-Chair of 100 Women Strong, has announced they will honor Lisa Bartoszek who was the Founder of, and recently retired Executive Director at, Lory’s Place, a Grief Healing and Education Center, as this year’s Leader of Distinction. The keynote speaker will be Linda Beushausen Gunter, the former President and CEO of Hospice at Home.

Tickets are $25 and a table of eight may be reserved for $180. Honoree Bartoszek has lived in the St. Joseph area for 29 years and is originally from the Grand Rapids area. She is a Berrien Community Foundation member, active member and volunteer of Hope Reformed Church in South Haven, volunteers for Caring Circle and the Lakeland Foundation, is active in the SJ Friends of the Library and is a Southwest Michigan Symphony Board member.

Lisa also serves on the Van Buren Suicide Prevention Coalition and the Children’s Palliative Care Coalition of Michigan. She is a nurse volunteer at the St. Joseph Lincoln Senior Center, has been a Women’s Service League member and is a Past President of the St. Joseph Lions Club.

Keynote speaker Gunter has been a health care executive for over 40 years throughout the healthcare continuum. She has been the CEO at Peace Village, a Senior Living Community in Palos Park, Illinois, for four years. As a result of a successful integration of Hospice at Home with Lakeland HealthCare, Linda was  Vice-President of Life Transitions and Advance Healthcare Planning and part of the Executive Team of the Lakeland Health System.

100 Women Strong is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves women who are not eligible for other community resources. These women are either working or attending school and can receive a one-time grant of up to $500 to pay for emergency car repairs, health, utility or other unexpected expenses. 100 Women Strong’s intent is to help women remain self-sufficient.
